I came across this study and graph performed by a Caltech Ph.D. student, showing correlations between SAT scores and music preferences. Of course, take this with a grain of salt. I can’t help but find it hilarious, though, that Lil’ Wayne fans rank at the very bottom of this study. Teehee.
I finished reading Malcolm Gladwell’s popular book, The Tipping Point, a few days ago (highly recommended by the way), so I’ve begun the next book on my reading list: Sound Bites: Eating on Tour with Franz Ferdinand. I figured it was appropriate, since I will be seeing them live in a few weeks!
I finally gathered the courage to look through my high school yearbooks and hunt for the message Mrs. Yamashita left me. Here’s what she wrote.
This weekend, my dad borrowed one of his construction company’s backhoes to plow and clear our farm. After watching my sister Lori operate the machine’s arm to plow, I drove the thing to the back of the farm, where, with some guidance from the family, I cleared away grass and weeds. That was exciting, especially since not everyone gets to drive a monstrous construction vehicle in their backyard.
Things are looking a bit different here on libertyperalta.com… that’s because it’s now powered by WordPress, which I am loving so far! I’m also committing myself to blog on a regular basis to get back in the habit of writing.
I can’t believe this is my last finals week I’ll have to endure! Though I didn’t have any final exams to worry about per se, I did need to take care of final projects. Especially the one for my photography class. (See my previous entry for the link to the six photos I chose.)
On Sunday, my sister and I were on the bus, on our way to the join HPU-HCC band concert at McKinley High School. (My sister’s boyfriend plays drums for the HCC band.) We get word from him that his dad was having a heart attack. By the time we get to Tripler Hospital, he had passed away. What was supposed to be a day of music appreciation, joy, and celebration turned into a day of shock, grief, and sorrow. It’s times like these when you realize how fragile life really is.
