After lunch at the London Bridge tube station, we walked around the corner to the London Dungeon, where a bunch of friends from the Muse message board were waiting, including Olly and Chris, who you may remember had scarfed down platefuls of spaghetti the previous night.

Sightseeing and Upchucking in London

After that crazy, restless night, we were zombies. Not only did we have a night with little to no sleep, but a few of us were already sick, too. I was still feeling barfy, had a slight fever, and the battle my lymph nodes were fighting were making my head and neck hurt. It’s funny, though, because you can’t even tell by the photos!

We knew this was probably the only day we could sightsee in London together, so we could not waste away in our beds. We had to leave our stuffy basement dorm room at The Clink in favor of sightseeing on a sunny day in London.

Settling In

After nibbling on Ritz crackers and sipping Sprite, I still felt sick. I didn’t have an appetite at all; I felt like I would vomit any minute. As much as I wanted to explore the King’s Cross area, I was alone and clearly in no condition to be out and about, so I walked back to the Clink hostel to wait for my friends/roommates to arrive. It was too early to check in, so I settled onto one of two couches in the hostel’s lobby and killed time online. Here I was in London and I was already sick, exhausted from the 20-hour journey and lounging about on Facebook.

Somewhere in London

I only spent a week in England, so I didn’t enjoy my life in the rain—though it did rain for most of the trip. And I didn’t exactly tell my favorite band Muse that they were my muse… because a) the odds of meeting them again were close to nil and b) that’s just stupid cheesy like the song that quote came from. But back in September, those were two lyrics that occasionally went through my head as I traveled half a world away from Hawai‘i to England.
