A week ago today, I was in Los Angeles, roaming around in “the world’s largest independent record store,” Amoeba Music, sifting through vintage rock posters, walking among aisles of CDs and vinyl records… and brushing shoulders with director Michel Gondry.

Oh right, ’twas Hollywood.

Vasthy, Liz, Christina and I had just come from eating dinner at Hard Rock Cafe on Universal City Walk. At Amoeba, we were all exhausted but willed ourselves to get lost in the music – literally. I mean, it’s why we were all here.

No Doubt was icing on the cake

Last week, I won tickets from BAMP, a local concert promoter, to see No Doubt’s second show here – their last one of the tour. Although I’m not a huge fan of theirs – I had a brief No Doubt phase when Tragic Kingdom came out; I was ten – I figured it’d be nice to go to a concert when your tickets are complimentary! So together with Tracy, who I met at the Franz Ferdinand gig in Tempe, we went to the show.
